Why I won’t go back to SuperCuts

May 25th, 2009 No comments

For the last couple of years I’ve been a regular patron of SuperCuts.  A new shop opened-up in my neighborhood, so I tried it out.  Got mostly good service, a little pricey, but it’s convenient.

I like to get my hair cut by the same person every time so it looks the same every time.   The only problem with SuperCuts is the employee turnover rate.  Just as I’d get used to one stylist, she’d leave, then the whole thing would start over again.

So another place opened-up – Fantastic Sams.  Finally found a stylist who cut my hair just the way I like it.  She hasn’t left yet – so far, so good.

Well, she wasn’t there today, so I decided to visit SuperCuts again.  The lady who cut my hair today remembered me from when I was a regular.  She immediately gave me the third degree about why I hadn’t been back in awhile, so I told her about the turnover rate and always getting someone new.  (BTW, she was the only stylist there I recognized – several new faces).

So there was a little small talk about school almost being out, summer vacation, etc.  Then it was right back into why I hadn’t been back for so long.  I couldn’t believe how she wouldn’t let it go. ‘Oh, and where do you take your kids for haircuts?’  ‘And where does your wife get her hair cut?’

Now, understand this – I have allegiance to our flag, the Good Ol’ USA, and Coca-Cola products.  But that’s about it.  Oh, and Whataburger.  But that’s all!  I have no allegiance to a hair salon!  I’m a guy – I just want a haircut, and I want it to look like the last time I got a haircut.  Same as 10 minutes ago, just shorter.  And if we can avoid the small talk, even better.

I should never have to defend my position on where I get my hair cut while I’m getting my hair cut!

Good riddance, SuperCuts.
